Land, Space and Beyond, Leonardo's First Solo Show during Frieze London 2026

Land, Space and Beyond takes viewers on a journey from the microscopic to the infinite. 

Leonardo Di Maggio applies a range of photography techniques to show our universe in all its beauty. The exhibition begins with a series of images created by a unique cameraless photography technique that turns rugged mountains scenes into deep blue toned abstracts printed on to silk. 

The viewer then gets further and further away from earth, through a range of figurative landscapes sculpted by nature, through woodlands and past towering mountain scenes and up into the deep dark sky. 

The exhibition culminates in a project that Di Maggio has been working on for the last seven years- a giant cyanotype print of the Andromeda galaxy, the largest ever created of our galactic neighbour. 

Di Maggio is the two time winner of the Annie Maunder Prize for image innovation from the Royal Museum Greenwich’s Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition and describes his Andromeda mosaic as his most ambitious and challenging project yet, being larger and more detailed than anything he has produced before, whilst still keeping the traditional handmade cyanotype technique at its core. 

Di Maggio has exhibited internationally and this is the first solo exhibition that he is putting on in London during Frieze week and it showcases the depth of his portfolio as well as displaying unreleased bodies of work.  

On Saturday 17th October 2026, go on a journey through land and into space. With a mixture of experimental photography techniques, infrared imaging and a dance of science and art.

Di Maggio showcases our earth and universe in all of its vibrance, diversity and beauty.
